Ear Hook

Feathers have been big in jewellery and hair accessories for a few years now. I thought I had seen feathers in every form until I found this

-ear hook from Khol's-

It's called an ear hook (I had never seen one before) and it's quickly becoming my favourite accessory. It hangs off the back of your ear, and with your hair down the metal 'hook' is unnoticeable.

I love that it gives the look of feathers in your hair, without the commitment of extensions.

Peanut Butter Cookie Cupcakes

This past weekend I made cupcakes for a friend's birthday. She loves Jeanne's Cakes and I wanted peanut butter so this is what I came up with...

Peanut Butter Cookie Cupcakes. A peanut butter cookie bottom, with a chocolate cupcake, peanut butter frosting, and a mini peanut butter cup to top it off. They took a while to make but they were totally worth the effort, and everyone loved them!

Peanut Butter Cookie Cupcakes:

Cookie dough:
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
 1 cup flour

Cream butter, peanut butter and sugars. Mix in egg. Blend in vanilla, flour, baking soda and salt. Scoop into greased cupcake liner and press down.

Cake:
I used a box chocolate cake mix, which I am justifying because the cupcake has so many things added to it. I also added a few shots of Kahlua to the mix. Spoon cake batter on top of cookie dough, about the same amount of batter as cookie dough. If you add too much the cookie will burn before the cake is fully cooked.

Bake at 350° C for about 18 minutes. (I used silicon cupcake tins so times might be different for metal.)

Peanut Butter Frosting:
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup butter
2 cups icing sugar
100 ml milk

Whip peanut butter and softened butter, add milk and beat until well combined. Add icing sugar 1 cup at a time and whip for a minute.

Wait until cupcakes are COMPLETELY cooled before frosting. enjoy!

Canadian Tux

Denim is everywhere right now. It was even worn by the Canadian Olympic Team in the London closing ceremonies.

The Canadian Tuxedo has always been a redneck staple, and although it is commonly paired with a mullet, it is no longer a fashion faux pas.

When wearing on denim on denim it’s important to wear different shades and textures, like the lighter shirt. This helps break up the top and bottom so you don’t look like you’re in overalls. Wearing cut-offs instead of full length jeans is another update that makes this look perfect for late summer.
